This whole blogging thing is totally new to me at the moment but I’m sure I will get better at it in time. This is a joint project between myself (farmer and landscape business owner) and a friend in Arizona (Forestry service worker). We’ll be sharing our love of nature, farming, fiber arts, thrift store finds, music and whatever else comes to mind.
The farm here in Minnesota is coming along well this summer despite the heat wave that’s settled in this week. We raise beef cattle for the most part. Angus and Hereford are the chosen breeds, but I do have my own little herd of Scottish Highland cattle which I am very fond of. There is also three Arabian horses to ride when it isn’t so hot. They work well to herd cattle with too. I enjoy raising birds and at the moment have a mix of chicken breeds and also some Pekin ducks. I get quite a few eggs from the lot which make my friends really happy.:) Throw in a whole bunch of sweet and charming barn cats and a purebred Australian Shepherd and you have all the makings of a typical Midwest farm.
The day is still young and I have quite a few chores to do. Am waiting for 25 new baby layers to come to replace what the raccoon took. The “hot” box needs to be cleaned and have fresh bedding put down among other things. Thankfully that’s the only really pressing thing that I have to do outside today!
